Union selects Erik Kahl as new executive director
The K-State Student Union has selected Erik Kahl as the new executive director. Kahl will assume all position duties July 14, 2025.
Kahl is a student affairs leader with more than 15 years of experience advancing inclusive, student-centered environments in higher education. He has a strong background in organizational leadership, strategic planning, leadership development and advising, student engagement and facility management.
“I am thrilled to be joining the K-State Union team and working alongside such talented and dedicated staff and students. There is something truly special about the K-State Union and the opportunities and experiences that take place within. I look forward to working with the boards, collaborating with colleagues and student groups, and listening and learning from our students and staff so that we can continue building upon the rich history of the K-State Union.,” Kahl shared.
Currently serving as the Executive Director of Student Life and Director of the Wyoming Union at the University of Wyoming Kahl leads a portfolio of services, assessment, programs, and the Union facility that enhances campus life and supports student success. Prior to this role, he held progressive leadership positions at the University of Wyoming, including associate director of their involvement center and head of fraternity and sorority life. A committed and student-centered educator and relationship-builder, Kahl is known for his empowering approach, advocacy and bold visioning to elevate the student experience.
He holds a Master of Education in Higher Education (Student Affairs) from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
