Jacob Porter selected for NASPA Cohort 7
Jacob Porter, Coordinator for Recognized Student Organizations in Student Programs and Involvement, has been recognized and selected for NASPA’s Cohort 7 of the Region IV-West SERVE Academy. This program engages individuals at all career levels in a cohort experience of learning about NASPA and Region IV-West, connecting with a season NASPA volunteer leader as a mentor, and developing and proposing a cohort project in support of a regional strategic priority.
Porter has been an integral part of the Union team since starting in his role in 2024. His leadership has provided clear direction and support for recognized student organizations across the K-State community. From constitution review to managing OrgCentral, K-State’s organization management system, Porter provides a friendly and experienced point of contact to K-State’s 400+ student organizations.
“What stands out most is how genuinely invested Jacob is in K-State and its culture,” says Grace Ann Thompson, Assistant Director for Student Leadership and Engagement. “He cares deeply about the student experience and works to ensure students feel supported while also helping them understand the policies and processes that allow their organizations to be successful.”
NASPA is dedicated to advancing student affairs in higher education through programs and services that empower professionals to foster student success. Porter has been a member of NASPA since 2022, attending the 2026 NASPA National Conference in March. Cohort 7 members will meet virtually each month from November 2026 through June 2027 in monthly learning sessions and will then submit their cohort project in October 2027 at the NASPA Region IV-West Conference.
The Union’s mission is to serve all, especially students, with facilities that provide services, programs, leadership experiences and educational opportunities which foster a sense of well-being, belonging and community.
