What to do Before My Notary Appointment?

• Review your document carefully and ensure you understand its contents.
• Fill in all blanks except for signature and date fields if they must be witnessed by the Notary.
• Do not sign or date the document until in the presence of the Notary (if witnessing is required).
• Ensure your document includes notarial wording (a notarial block or certificate), or that you know what type of notarization is required.
• The Notary cannot determine the type of notarization needed or provide legal advice. If unsure, contact the document drafter.
