Postion Title: Office Assistant/Business Services (Student Position)

Department: Business Services

Summary: Responsible to assist the business services department in the day-to-day functions in support of the Union's mission and vision. 

Position Details: Student Postion

Supervisory Responsability: No

Work Schedule: Not to exceed 30 hours/week when school is in session. Internation students' schedules not exceed 20 hours/week when school is in session. 

Pay Range: $9.25/hour 

Supervised By: Assistant Finance Director/Business Management

Key Functions

• File and organize APVs
• File invoices with backup documentation
• Pick-up checks
• Prepare checks to mail with accompanying APVs
• Provide excellent customer-centric service to both in-person and phone customers
• Answer phone
• Scanning and organizing various documents
• Assist internal and external customers
• Help with lost and found items/contact owners
• Assist with mail and package distribution
• Prepare loose change into rolled coins
• Sign out cash bags to authorized personnel based on established procedures
• Participate in business services and Union-related workgroups and committees as directed
• Execute other duties and special projects as assigned and instructed

Qualifications Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age
• Current enrollment at Kansas State University
• Non-university student: Current enrollment in high school or an accredited college or university.            • Enrolled in no fewer than six credit hours
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Student majoring in business or accounting-related degree
• Experience working with monetary transactions
• Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work with multiple interruptions
• Knowledge of general office processes

Skills and Abilities

Work in a general office environment. Remain seated/stand 75% of shift. Finger dexterity/movement for typing, picking up small objects and utilizing varying office equipment. Sight to view computer, documents, and general office machinery. Verbal and written communication to present, convey and exchange information and ideas accurately and quickly. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key functions of this position.
