Graduate Assistant – Marketing
Department: Marketing
Summary: Responsible for supporting the department with administrative and/or project-based tasks while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
Position Details: Non-exempt, Part-time, Student Position
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Work Schedule: Not to exceed 20 hours/week when school is in session. This is a 9-month position.
Pay Range: $13.75/hr
Supervised By: Assistant Director/Marketing

Key Functions:
• Ensure the K-State Student Union’s marketing and communication efforts are of the highest professional quality.
• Maintain a positive role and partnership with stakeholders.
• Assist with assigned marketing projects and provide overall support to the marketing department.
• Assist with scheduling, delegation, and coordination of assignments for student staff.
• Work within a team to implement and execute strategic marketing plans.
• Provide support for promotional events, communication projects, web content, social media campaigns and more.
• Provide proofreading and design editing according to university and Union standards and policies.
• Assist in managing assigned marketing and promotional projects for the Union.
• Draft communications in the form of press releases, newsletters, web and social media content.
• Assist with the production and distribution of marketing material.
• Represent the Union at events and information fairs.
• Remain up to date on new and upcoming marketing trends.
• Establish relationships with faculty, staff, students and Union stakeholders for the development of marketing materials.
• Maintain working knowledge of graphic design concepts, software, and marketing terminology and technology.
Qualification Requirements:
• Be at least 16 years of age (18 years of age for maintenance department)
• Bachelor’s degree
• Current enrollment in a master’s program at Kansas State University
• Enrolled in no fewer than six credit hours
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Organizational and time management skills
• Preferred knowledge and experience with -
o Graphic design concepts and software; preferably Adobe Creative Suite
o Project management and social media management software
o Google Analytics system
o social media platforms
o Microsoft products
Skills and Abilities:
Work in a general office environment. Remain seated/stand 75% of shift. Finger dexterity/movement for typing, picking up small objects and utilizing varying office equipment. Sight to view computer, documents, and general office machinery. Verbal and written communication to present, convey and exchange information and ideas accurately and quickly.
