Summary of Position: Responsible for supporting the department with administrative and/or project-based tasks while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Position Details: Student Position

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Work Schedule: Not to exceed 30 hours/week when school is in session. International students' schedules not to exceed 20 hours/week when school is in session. 

Supervised By: Graphics Coordinator

Application Requirements: Sample of ORIGINAL work/portfolio, Union application, three references

Pay Rate: $9.75/hour

Key Functions:

  • Assist with the creation, design, and completion of brochures, posters, coupons, ads, signage, and 
    promotional materials for Union departments, activities, and registered student organizations.
  • Assist with designing digital advertisements.
  • Assist with designing social media-related items.
  • Develop new project design concepts and redesign current projects as requested.
  • Assist the department in the creation, design, and completion of complex annual projects.
  • Collaborate with the department to overcome design issues.
  • Present a professional image of themselves and the K-State Student Union at all times.
  • Provide customer-centric service at all times.
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years of age (18 years of age for maintenance department)
  • Current enrollment at Kansas State University
    • Non-university student: Current enrollment in high school or an accredited college or university
  • Enrolled in no fewer than six credit hours
  • Required minimum 6 months knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis in Illustrator and Photoshop

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

  • Graphic Design majors
  • Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible, and team-oriented environment

Skills and Abilities: 

Work in a general office environment. Remain seated or standing 75% of shift. Finger dexterity and movement for typing, picking up small objects, and utilizing various office equipment. Sight to view computer, documents, and general office machinery. Verbal and written communication to present, convey, and exchange information and ideas accurately and quickly.
