Position Title: Barista

Department: Retail Services 

Summary: Responsible for crafting customized non-alcoholic soda-based beverages for the university community. 

Position Details: Student Position

Supervisory Responsability: No

Work Schedule: Not to exceed 30 hours/week when school is in session. 

Pay Rate: $10.50/hour

Key Functions:

• Prepare and serve a variety of “dirty” sodas, energy drink blends, flavored waters, and other specialty beverages according to recipes and customer requests.
• Responsible for customer experience by maintaining efficient, fast, friendly, and personalized services by developing a rapport with our customers.
• Ensure all ingredients are properly stocked, labeled, and rotated for freshness.
• Operate beverage equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain knowledge of products.
• Maintain the highest quality products by adhering to standard food-safe procedures.
• Accurately ring sale orders into the Point-of-Sale system (POS); count back change to customers.
• Report all customer complaints to the Assistant Director/Retail Services and respond proactively to prevent customer service situations.
• Report potential safety hazards, employee incidents, and operational inconsistencies to the Assistant Director/Retail Services.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Ensure accurate timekeeping practices in relation to actual hours worked. Report missed punches and/or corrections immediately to the Assistant Director/Retail Services.

Qualification Requirements: 

• Be at least 16 years of age
• Enrolled in no fewer than six credit hours (for student position only)
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Organizational and time management skills

Skills and Abilities/Physical Demands

Remain standing 100% of shift. Finger dexterity/movement for typing, picking up small objects and utilizing varying equipment. Sight to view computer, documents, and general quick-service machinery. Verbal and written communication to present, convey and exchange information and ideas accurately and quickly. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
