K-State Immediate Access - Salina Pilot
The K-State Campus Store on the Salina campus is launching a new course materials pilot program that immediately provides accessible, interactive digital course materials and textbooks while reducing the cost to students and improving affordability.
K-State Immediate Access is a new digital rental program that allows students access to course materials on or before the first day of class, and at a significant savings from purchasing the materials.
Students who register for participating K-State Immediate Access courses will automatically be part of the program. Course material costs are conveniently and automatically charged to your student bill. Like other K-State charges, this amount is payable by financial aid or personal funds. If you have a payment plan, this charge will be included in payment plan calculations to determine recurring payment amounts.
Should you choose to purchase course materials through the open market, you may OPT OUT of K-State Immediate Access anytime after registering for the course through the final course drop date February 12, 2024. A credit to your student bill will be provided to students who choose to opt out of the program. Opt-out is not available after this date.

How Do I Access My Materials?
There are two ways you can access K-State Immediate Access materials on or before the first day of class.
- You will receive an email with a link to the materials for your class OR
- You will access them via a link through Canvas for each participating course.
FAQs
Course material prices are negotiated course by course between publishers and the K-State Campus Store. Cost savings are estimated to be up to 50% off existing courseware materials and up to 90% off newly purchased course materials sold by the campus store.
The course material cost for K-State Immediate Access materials are negotiated individually for each course to provide maximum student savings over the cost of new retail books. Material cost are unique for each course. Please see above for the listing of the courses and fees in the pilot program for spring 2024.
If you register for one of the courses listed above, then you are enrolled automatically. You will receive an introductory email when we identify that you are enrolled, which will be followed up by an official email from the K-State Campus Store detailing how to access your materials.
The length of time you can access these materials varies, but materials will usually be available for at least 180 days. Should you register for your course after the semester starts you will have access to the corresponding digital materials within 24 hours.
If you do not wish to participate in K-State Immediate Access, you have the option to OPT OUT of the program online (the opt-out procedure will be outlined in your emailed information). If you OPT OUT by the deadline, you will no longer have access to the course material. The full cost of the class materials will be reimbursed to your student account. You will then be responsible for obtaining the course materials in the open market.
The last day to opt out for spring 2024 is Monday, Feb. 5.
If you drop the course before the deadline, you will automatically be opted-out and will not be billed. There are no refunds if you drop after the university add/drop deadline.
There is no penalty. You will just have to get access to your materials elsewhere. In order to be successful in the class you will need to obtain the required textbooks and coursework assigned by your instructor.
