April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the featured exhibit, “What Were You Wearing,” challenges the victim-blaming myth that choice of clothing can become an invitation for assault. The exhibit will be on display through May 10 in the William T. Kemper Art Gallery on the first floor of the K-State Student Union. The collection features narratives and re-creations of outfits based on survivors’ experiences. Viewers are invited to reconsider what the long-held beliefs of sexual assault are and challenge the victim-blaming behavior that often accompanies these incidents of violence. 

A reception will be hosted from 4:30-5:30 pm, Monday, April 8 in the gallery.  All are welcome to attend and free refreshments will be provided.

A special thank you to the exhibit hosts, The Morrison Family Center for Student Well-being, CARE and Wildcats Make a Pact, for their dedication to awareness. The exhibit is sponsored by the Union Program Council and the K-State Student Union.
