Welcome to the Endeaan Gallery Exhibit

As a Cherokee citizen, and member of the Native American community at large, Justice Catron feels duty bound to explore a new understanding of what “Nativeness” looks and feels like. His work derives from his understanding of biracial and multiethnic perceptions from his experiences through clay. With Catron's identity being represented in his work through vintage floral and "Indian" images in order to contradict common stereotypes.

Born in Tahlequah, OK, Catron's ethnic identity as a Cherokee has a paramount influence on his work. "Each work provides a snapshot of myself as I am perceived by others as well as who I feel I am", says Catron.

Catron received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kansas State University in May 2023 and currently works at the Manhattan Arts Center as the Clay Studio Manager. He has also exhibited at the Chanute Art Gallery, Salina Arts Center and The Mark A. Chapman Gallery at K-State.

The “Welcome to the Endeann” exhibit will be on display in the William T. Kemper Art Gallery in the K-State Student Union from Monday, Sep. 18 through Friday, Oct. 13, 2023.
