Celebration of Democracy
Join Union Program Council and Alpha Phi Alpha from 7 – 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom for a celebration of American democracy. The non-partisan event, a tradition shared by United States embassies worldwide, brings the community together to witness election-night coverage, discuss civic engagement and hear from special speakers.
The evening emphasizes the participatory spirit of democracy, and the vital role young people play in decision-making and policymaking. Through engagement and service, the event underscores how these values can bridge differences, foster collaboration and a celebrate the impact of community-driven change.
Attendees will have the opportunity to pledge as “democracy ambassadors”— civic action advocates who inspire others to get involved. Special remarks will be delivered by speakers including Mekhi Quick, Alpha Phi Alpha president, Victoria Niabarger, K-State alumnus and U.S. foreign service officer and more. Guests will enjoy complimentary food, drinks and a photo booth to capture the memorable occasion.
