50th Anniversary Student Photography Contest Winners Announced

The 50th Annual Student Photography Contest awards were announced Wednesday, April 16 during a ceremony in the William T. Kemper Art Gallery, located on the first floor of the K-State Student Union. Winners were chosen by a panel of three judges: a representative from Union Program Council (UPC), a representative from Union Marketing and a graduate student from the K-State’s photography department. Submissions were judged on technical quality, visual design and overall presentation and the top artists won cash prizes ranging from $75-$200.

UPC received approximately 150 submissions and nearly 60 pieces were chosen for display as an exhibit in the  gallery from March 1—April 18 this year. 

Winners included: 

  • Jachin Bonura, first place, “Where the Mountains Touch the Sky”
  • Jameson Rauth, second place, “Atlantic Sentinels”
  • Mia Cardenas, third place, “Generations”

Crowd-Favorite Award Winners Included:

  • Vance Lor, “Light at the Market”
  • Zara Thomas, “Citrus Sands”
