Anita Easterwood Artist Reception

The K-State Student Union will host an artist reception in honor of Anita Easterwood, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 in the William T. Kemper Art Gallery on the first floor of the Union.

Easterwood’s exhibit “Life Through My Eyes” has been displayed at the William T. Kemper Art Gallery in the Union since January, and will continue to be displayed until Monday, Feb. 28, 2022.

Easterwood’s exhibit “Life Through My Eyes” has been displayed in the gallery since January and will close after the reception. “The ‘everyday person’ has various social identities that intersect in shaping us into who we are. And my identity as a black woman has influenced my artistry. It has been important to me as a black woman to take a moment in my art to celebrate the beauty and sophistication that black women embody. Beyond that, I also highlight the Black culture and community in my pieces because those are facets of my life that have molded me into the person I am which inherently shapes my lens as an artist” said Easterwood.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided, as well as a meet and greet before Easterwood gives her remarks. There will also be an opportunity for guests to purchase her artwork.
