Union Announces Gender Inclusive Restrooms

Union

During winter break, the K-State Student Union designated a new gender inclusive restroom on the first floor. An inclusive restroom is already located at Union 106, near Radina's. The new space will occupy Union 124, an existing restroom on the south end of the building near the skywalk and the Fireside Lounge.

While it is something often taken for granted, inclusive restroom spaces are very important for the safety, well-being and visibility in many of our student populations. “…the known presence of such policies/supports was related to a greater sense of belonging and perception of a more affirming campus climate—which have been linked to positive mental health and academic outcomes among sexual minority youth” (Russell & Fish, 2016).
