Craig Johnson, director/building operations at the K-State Student Union, has been named interim executive director, effective Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024.

Johnson will assume the duties of Corey Williamson, current executive director, who has been named as Kansas State University’s assistant vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. “Under Corey's guidance, the Union has thrived as a hub of inspiration, collaboration and cultural exchange,” Dr. Derek Jackson, associate vice president, said. “His tenure as executive director leaves an indelible mark on the institution, symbolizing a legacy of excellence, unity and the enduring spirit of Wildcat pride."

Johnson, who earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from K-State, commented, “I am excited for the opportunity to guide the talented staff of the Union during this time as we serve the students, staff and faculty at K-State.” Regarding Johnson, Dr. Jackson stated “I appreciate Craig stepping into the interim role. He has been a strong part of the Union leadership team and I know he will ensure the seamless operation serving our K-State community.”

Johnson has worked for the Union since 1998, serving in multiple roles, including operations manager for the Union bookstore, ID Center manager and conference services coordinator.

The Union’s mission is to serve all, especially students, with facilities that provide services, programs, leadership experiences and educational opportunities that foster a sense of well-being and belonging in an inclusive community.
