Union Building Manager to Retire
Bob Sultzer, manager/building operations at the K-State Student Union, has announced his retirement effective Jan. 10, 2024. A celebration is scheduled from 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 in the Bluemont room on the second floor of the Union. Remarks to begin at 3:30 pm.
Sultzer joined the Union in 1979 as a student employee and became part of the full-time staff in 1983. He has since played a crucial role in ensuring the success of many events at the Union including the annual "Rocky Horror Picture Show" event for 41 years.
The Union is also where Sultzer met his wife Lorinda Duch Sultzer in 1979. They were at try-outs for the K-State Bowling team, "He threw two strikes on each lane, looked at me, and asked if I was ready to go. We are still paired up and happily rolling along ever since." said Duch Sultzer as quoted from the Union's 50th anniversary book.
The Union’s mission is to serve all, especially students, with facilities that provide services, programs, leadership experiences, and educational opportunities that foster a sense of well-being and belonging in an inclusive community.
