Textures and Depth Exhibit Opens in the Union
Crissi Rice - native, wife, mother, artist, social worker and natural hair enthusiast - brings her artistic focal point about the history of women and expressing different techniques through their hair to tell a story. Her method of choice is mix-medium within the genre of contemporary art.
Rice’s exhibit “Textures and Depth: Unveiling Perspectives & Identities” encourages viewers to dive deeper, to move past the immediate visual impact and uncover the intricate stories and emotions woven into each piece. Her work will be on display in the William T. Kemper Art Gallery in the K-State Student Union until Saturday, March 1, 2025.
The display highlights the striking contrast between surface beauty and hair, and the profound narratives hidden beneath. It emphasizes the importance of looking beyond appearances, encouraging patrons to recognize that true understanding often demands a closer, more thoughtful examination, as every soul carries a story waiting to be uncovered.
