In support of Kansas State University’s announcement to resume in-person classes for the fall 2020 semester, the K-State Student Union reopened in August.

The Union strives to be a safe and welcoming place for the campus community to come back together and reconnect in person. Every effort is being made to provide a safe space for students, faculty, staff and administrators to receive necessary services that foster a sense of community while engaging and supporting each other during such an unprecedented time.

Building hours are modified to allow staff additional time to perform in-depth cleaning procedures of the facility. Semester hours are 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., Monday – Friday, closed on Saturdays and from 5 – 10 p.m. on Sundays. Accommodations will be made for the K-State home football schedule.

Events and meetings within the Union are limited based on the guidelines set by state, local and university officials. The meeting and event space seating capacities are adjusted to accommodate social distancing requirements, which results in a decrease of up to 70% seating capacity in rooms.

Lounge and dining areas are rearranged according to social distancing recommendations maintaining six (6) feet of space between tables and chairs on all levels of the Union. Spacing requirements result in a general seating reduction of approximately 50% throughout the building.

Please see the FAQs below for additional information.

In compliance with the K-State face-covering policy, students, faculty, staff and visitors — including contractors and vendors — must wear face coverings over their mouths and noses while on K-State campuses.

Furniture in the Union is positioned to provide social distancing space. Social distancing markers and floor signs are provided to help guests maintain six (6) feet distancing throughout the Union.

Occupancy limits are based on state, local and university guidelines.

The number of individuals sharing space must meet social distancing guidelines and are not exceed to guidelines set by state, local and university officials.

The Union’s custodial team follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's sanitation plan to deep clean and disinfect the building including hourly cleaning and disinfecting of bathrooms, handrails, door hardware, elevator buttons, light switches and other frequent touch points.

Public study spaces are available in the Union and guests are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines.

Computers are available and have been relocated to ensure six (6) feet of distance between workstations. Sanitizing wipes are located near each station to use for wiping down keyboards, mice and other touchpoints.

All restaurants and the Cats’ Den Convenience Store are open. Each location has enhanced health and safety procedures and protocols in place to protect guests and employees while serving the campus community. Service hours of individual locations can be found here. Radina's in the Union is open, but Radina's in the School of Leadership Studies, College of Engineering and College of Business are closed until further notice.

The Union encourages virtual meetings when practical. Event attendance within the building and all mass gatherings are limited based on the guidelines set by state, local and university officials. More information can be found here.

The Union Program Council still plans events for students that adhere to social distancing and event capacity guidlines as set by state, local and university officials. Find current event information here.

The K-State ID Center has new online procedures for incoming students to request a Wildcat Card prior to arriving on campus. For staff, faculty and current student replacement IDs, visit the ID Center in the Union.
