It Pays to Play!
It pays to play! K-State Esports is offering a great opportunity for aspiring gamers with the introduction of six scholarships. The scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1500 per semester, will be given to members of the esports teams at K-State. Beginning fall 2023, students who are part of the Counter Strike, Rocket League, League of Legends and Valorant teams will be eligible for the scholarships.
Eli Thalmann, from Palmer, KS, is the first recipient of an esports scholarship from Kansas State University. He is a transfer from Wayne State who plays Rocket League, and will compete on our varsity team this Fall.
The Counter Strike varsity team had a commendable performance in both the fall and spring seasons of the NACE tournament, securing a fourth place finish nationally. The Rocket League varsity team had an outstanding record of 5-1 in the fall season earning the runner-up position in the East Conference 2 of the NACE competition.
The League of Legends varsity team finished as the runner-up in the Challengers Midwest division during the fall season. The junior varsity (JV) team achieved an undefeated record in the Challengers Heartland division in the same season.
The Valorant varsity team qualified for the round of 32 in the CVAL national tournament and secured the runner-up position in the Heartland Showdown. The Valorant JV team excelled by winning the East 4 conference with an impressive 7-1 fall season.
By highlighting the teams’ achievements and offering scholarships, K-State Esports is showcasing its dedication to supporting and nurturing talented gamers in various competitive gaming titles.
